Patagonia 2012Discount air tickets have brought me from a European winter into South American summer, although it was fairly cool one, especially all the way down south. Before we reached Tierra del Fuego however, we have visited well known national parks Los Glaciares in Argentina and Tores del Paine in Chile. |

Altai Mountains 2010In August 2010 me and my two friends went to the Russian Altai Mountains. We did one long trek from the village of Chibit through Shavlo valley and Abyl-Ojuk pass to the south side of the Northern Chuiski Range to return back north via peak Kupol. Eventually we had some spare time to visit Maashey Gorge on our way back to the starting point. |

SlovakiaI find the periods in between big journeys to far away places too long. Fortunately, I can make short trips to Slovak mountains fairly often. I have always liked them very much, after all, these were the ranges in which I have started hiking when I was little and that have remained special for me ever after. |

Czech RepublicWhen there is not enough time or energy to go to Slovakia I gladly settle for a trip to Czech countryside. I concede that it is more difficult for me to take a good shot over here because the landscape is much less dramatic. However, I do hope I have managed to take some at a few occasions. |

The AlpsThe Alps are the closest mountains with glaciers which are also usually the reason to go there. Glacial treks give one a feeling of really walking on top big mountains, unlike those with no show involved. On the other hand, so far I have not managed to include my tripod in my packing along with all the equipment that is required. |

Ladakh 2009In the summer of 2009 I went to Ladakh, which is also known as the Indian or little Tibet. I must admit that the reputation this part of Kashmir enjoys is very true, there really are nice people who do not seem to be at all spoiled by the burgeoning tourism and also beautiful high mountains which are very dry, creating a rather magical feeling on the treks. |

Kyrgyzstan 2008I finally managed to visit Asian mountains again after many years. We went to the northeast Kyrgyzstan, one of the post-soviet Asian states, to trek in Tian Shan, the Celestial mountains. The three treks, not so far away geographically, were remarkably different in countryside and scenery. |

Peru and Bolivia 2005In August and September 2005 me and a friend of mine flew to Peru and Bolivia to engage in an extraordinary activity according to local standards. We trekked the central Ands without any horse, donkey or mule, without a guide, only with our backpacks, usually in high altitudes but always under the most fascinating peaks of the Ands. |

Singapore 2005I spent four days in Singapore as a "stop-over" when changing planes so tat I would experience the famous crossroad of civilization first hand. And I also bought a camera there and was busy trying it out while visiting the various ethnic "towns" of the city. |

New Zealand 2004-2005I spent most of my longest holidays in New Zealand where I was tramping and hitch hiking for almost two months. I don't think any other country is more convenient for hikers than New Zealand, and yet the variety and beauty of the sceneries is truly astonishing and can stand comparison with any other place on Earth. |

Australia 2004I was an exchange student at University of Queensland in Brisbane from September until November. After I finished the school I flew to Tasmania where I spent approximately twenty days. Finally I went to Melbourne and then left the country for New Zealand. |

Iran and Turkey 2002Inspired by the journey previous year, me and my friends decided to go to Iran in 2002. However, we were allowed to stay for only nine days due to new, unexpected and stricter visa extension rules and so we decided to spend the rest of our time at a few interesting spots in eastern Turkey. |

Pakistan 2001My first big trip to what is called the third world took me overland to distant Pakistan and particularly to Karakorum which some say are the most beautiful mountains on Earth. I was a very inexperienced photographer to say the least and the camera had a few glitches of its own so please excuse the quality of the photographs. Nevertheless, the place is so overwhelming that it can be felt despite their poor condition. |
